Chaotic Bliss

He's a provider, not an idler. The strong work ethic in his veins has been passed down from another generation. He calls me in snatches throughout the day, just a quick I love you. And my heart skips a beat when he finally makes his way through the back door. I am the wife of one incredible man.

I didn't get out of my pajamas on Saturday. A day of rest and absolutely no order was needed. I put The Young Victoria in the DVD player at nap time. He came home from work half way through and laid on the couch with me... I can't remember the last time we watched a movie together in the middle of the afternoon. Kids were flying throughout the house, the dishes overflowed the sink and dinner hadn't even entered my mind, but his arms were around me. Chaotic bliss.

Life is good.

Could it be any sweeter? After the kids went off to bed, the movie marathon continued! First, Jane Eyre and then Pride and Prejudice. These precious moments, when I have his full attention and he has mine, are rare. Yet, everyday and in every way he shows me what I have.... his LOVE.

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:1-8

  1. This is funny because we watched Jane Ayre this weekend too. Glad you had a moment of calm sweetness amidst it all!
