Night Owls

It's a quarter to one in the morning and Phoebe and I are still rattling around this old house! I have discovered that it's pointless to close my eyes until she has finally surrendered to the Sand Man. Her skin is in terrible condition. It's painful just to look at her little feet and hands. So, while she is watching 24/7 Nick Jr., I am scouring the Internet looking for the missing link to cure her "boo-boos".

My late night searches have only brought me to the conclusion that....I need to go to bed earlier! Google is a dangerous thing! I really should back away from the keyboard and leave diagnosing my daughter to the experts. I could spend these additional hours doing something productive, like cleaning. Oh, but that's way out of my comfort zone!

The fact that Phoebe doesn't know anything different, her skin has been this way since the day she was born, should bring me some comfort. Her name literally means "radiant"...She is the brightest, sweetest and most lovable child you could ever meet. Her eyes twinkle with mischief and mayhem, and boy does she deliver! But as her mama, I long for relief from this chronic eczema battle. I've done everything the doctor told me to do and still her feet look like meatloaf! If another well meaning person tells me to try an oatmeal bath or moisturizer, I might have to bite them! I am disheartened that there doesn't seem to be a solution. However, Phoebe doesn't seem to be as frustrated, this is just the way it is.

"Come on Mom, watch T.D. with me!" She is my radiant fire fly...We light up the night together!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

  1. Here is the website of a friend of mine. Be advised, her son has had severe eczema + many other issues, but her info about wet wraps looks worth a try www.3stroudsons.com. Also, try getting a good shower filter for chlorine. That has helped us tremendously, along with a humidifier. I used friendsofwater.com for the shower filter and it lasts for over a year. Thirdly, the homeopathic treatment Sulphur is supposed to help with some forms of eczema though I haven't tried it specifically. Maybe you'll find some relief for your little one yet. I just hope I can meet her sometime soon!

  2. Thank you Hope! We have a pediatric derm. appointment in the morning. We noticed last summer that she rarely or barely sweats and I'm afraid as she gets older that the situation may become severe. We have used wet wraps and they have helped for awhile....

I will look into the filter and check on the sulfur. We would love to see you guys! How are you?

  3. No help here from me, sorry! I see your nightowl days are still with you, though. Happy BD Ruby!

  4. I know it's out there Reagan, but have you considered holistic health? I have a friend who daughter has developed ticks, she was devastated. Those things have no "cure" as far as PHD's are concerned. She took her to a holistic health practitioner, he took a hair sample and found out she has copper toxicity along with other things. But the real thing is... ticks are a symptom along with several other things and she may be able to reverse the problems she is having including the ticks. So before the HHP she was sent home to learn to deal with her problems, now she has a plan to maybe cure her. I have always been leary of that kind health approach but I am seeing a little clearer these days about it. She has started the family on a gluten free diet and her excema has cleared a lot! Just some thoughts to chew on?!?
